Smart maps using GIS data
If good GIS data is available (normally in urban areas) you can use it in OCAD. Proceed as follows:
1. Import the GIS data (as DXF or Shape) into OCAD.
2. Remove layers which are not used.
3. Used layers are converted to OCAD symbols.
4. If it does not yet exist, print a paper copy for the field work.
5. Do the field work using this paper copy. (see also OCAD
+ GPS)
6. Scan your field work and open it as a template and adjust it to the grid.
7. Add the additional objects or make changes to existing objects. You can print the final map on your
printer or export it as EPS or Adobe Illustrator file.
